My son recently switched to a different bedroom in our house. No sooner was he settled in when he began to complain. “Can you get me a fan, Mom? It is too hot in this room!” I informed him that leaving the door open would help keep his room cooler. The very next day he brought me a chewed up cable and a cat, telling me. “Your cat chewed up my Nintendo DS cord and is trying to chew up your router cord. Do you want to keep your wireless internet?” I told him to close the door; we would get a fan. I have been a fan (pun intended) of Honeywell products for quite a while. We have a Honeywell heater that keeps me cozy, a Honeywell doorbell that has changing sounds for the seasons and a Honeywell air purifier. Naturally I was thrilled when they offered to send a Honeywell Quietset Eight Speed Tower Fan.
As soon as the box was dropped off by UPS, my son dragged it into the house and sat it beside me, urging me to ‘hurry up and take any pictures I might need’ so he could use it. The fan did not come completely assembled but my son had it out of the box and put together within five minutes (and that’s without reading the instructions!) He hustled it off to his room immediately afterwards, where he has had it running almost 24/7 ever since.
One thing I have noticed about this fan is how quiet it is. He has some visual and auditory difficulties and has trouble studying if there is any noise. He hasn’t complained about the noise level once! Another feature he likes is the remote control. He can turn it on and off, control the amount of rotation and adjust temperature speed and setting from across the room. The handle on the top is designed to be easy to grip and easy to use for transporting the fan. The one downside I have seen with this fan is the light on the top. It can be seen clearly in a darkened room. This doesn’t bother my son, but if you are a light sleeper like me who needs total darkness, this could be a problem if you want to keep the fan on at night.
My son has been pleased with his fan and I am pleased that I no longer have to hear complaints about unbearable heat. The fan does a great job reducing the temperature in the room without having to lower the thermostat. I would say that is a win all the way around.
