Krispy Kreme fan? Yummy Glazed Banana Kreme Pies
I’ve been a Krispy Kreme doughnut fan all of my life. When I was a child my mom would sometimes purchase a box of fresh, hot glazed doughnuts. I would remind her that “we didn’t want them to go stale” and try to eat as many as I could before being made to quit. It’s easier to get my hands on Krispy Kreme doughnuts now because they are available in grocery and convenience stores. But they don’t just sell doughnuts, they’ve expanded their options to include pies, including their new Glazed Banana Kreme Pie that’s available for a limited time. The pies hit the shelves on March 2nd, National Banana Kreme Pie day. Before these pies became available I didn’t know Banana Kreme Pie day existed!
Here’s the scoop:
Glazed Banana Kreme Pie blends fresh banana tastes with smooth Kreme filling inside a crust topped with original glaze.
These pies are not available at Krispy Kreme doughnut shops, only in grocery and convenience stores. Our family was lucky enough to sample a couple of the pies to be able to share our thoughts. “It tastes like banana cream filling inside a Krispy Kreme doughnut,” my son remarked. Believe me, there is nothing wrong with that. Because my family members are not huge banana fans I was able to eat half of a pie all by myself. Notice how happy I am not to have to split my pie into five pieces.
This banana cream filling was smooth, creamy and not heavy on the banana flavor, much to my delight. While I am a fan of banana cream, I don’t like an overpowering banana taste. I could still get a feel for the kreme. The crust on Krispy Kreme pies are topped with their famous doughnut glaze, adding a tasty twist to the flaky pastry.
Remember my trip to the Krispy Kreme 2013 blogger summit? I was able to chat with the director of their grocery store and convenience store program. She assured me their sales force is dedicated to only having fresh products on store shelves. No stale pies for me!
Have you tried the new Krispy Kreme Glazed Banana Kreme pies? What did you think?
