“A sharp eye and a little bit of speed is all it takes.” I thought I had both of these attributes until I played the Spot It! Halloween edition game from Blue-Orange games. The concept of the game is simple. Place two cards on the table and find the matching object on both cards. There will only be one match per card. Alas, woe is me. Everyone in my family is quicker at spotting the matches on these cards than me! “It’s the black cat!” or “It’s the toad!” I would shout a second too late, earning me pitying looks from my family. Thank goodness I managed to get a few before everyone else or the kids would be thinking of all types of things they could manage to sneak past their poor bewildered mom. Hey, with fifty eight symbols on these cards, I definitely think I could be given some slack, especially when playing with teenagers.
Designed for ages 7 to adult, the game is designed to be played in a short period of time, around fifteen minutes, and can be played with two to eight players. Afraid the kids will get bored easily playing Spot-It Halloween Edition or complain it is too young for their tastes? The game includes instructions to use the cards to play five different games of varying skill levels. I liked playing The Tower, a slower (ha!) paced game in which the player who collected the most cards wins. The kids liked Hot Potato, a fast paced game where we had to turn over our cards and yell out the matching symbol before someone else. The object was to have the least amount of cards at the end of the game. Want to guess who didn’t have the least amount?
Interested in trying the game? Here’s an online version that lets you see how to play. My husband played with me and consoled me over our low scores. At least I know I’m not the only family member who is no longer quick on the draw.
Win It!
One person will receive a Spot It! Halloween Edition game.
