I thought having one child in college 550 miles away would make my life easier. Instead, my life seems to have become more complicated. Not only do I have to drive all over creation for school classes and functions, the person I could send on errands I didn’t have time to do is gone, forcing me to find time to work them into my schedule.
By 3 o’ clock in the afternoon, I hit an energy slump and so have the kids. I’ve been keeping a small stash of new Balance Bar mini energy bars in my purse in case we need a quick pick me up. There’s two flavors of these bars, Cookie dough and Double Chocolate Brownie. Since they’re “mini” .88 ounce size, each bar has 100 calories. They still contain the 40-30-30 balanced energy principle, 23 vitamins and minerals and seven grams of protein. I think the Cookie Dough was my favorite. It had the crumbly texture of cookie dough but wasn’t too sweet. The Double Chocolate Brownie was a little too sweet for my taste, although I liked the flavor.
I’m also (attempting) to teach my children to recycle whenever possible. It’s slow going and they don’t always respond the way I’d like.
