As I get older I find that celebrating birthdays is not nearly as much fun as when I was younger. That’s why I need a little extra incentive when I am counting down the days. Hmmm… what is something that makes me feel better when I need a little pick me up? Chocolate, of course.
Recently I was introduced to Madelaine Chocolates and their too tempting supply of gourmet goodies. The Peanut Butter Truffles and Café Express Coffee Cups (considered their everyday chocolates!) did not have a long life span at our house. Naturally, even though it was not my birthday, I couldn’t wait to sample the new Birthday Countdown! Boxes. Each box contains seven pieces of chocolate to make the countdown to birthdays a little sweeter.
Because the eight year old was about to turn nine, he was excited to be able to count down the days until his birthday. Of course, he was doing that already but the chocolate gave him something else to look forward too each day. The rest of us sampled the other box. My son told me, “Mom, you had me fooled with that chocolate box. I thought it was some weird book.” I was wondering why he hadn’t asked to sample it before we held our test tasting.
The chocolates contained in these countdown packages are solid milk chocolate. Everyone in the family (with the exception of Bryan, who is allergic to chocolate) proclaimed these chocolates were good. Another plus is these chocolates are designed for kids and adults. They are small enough to provide a treat without overindulging. They’re also smooth, creamy and sweet without the bitter taste found in some chocolates designed for adults.
